I know a lot of developers use questionably legal software or pay through the nose, so for those looking Krita is legitimately free and pretty fantastic. It's also great to point out that this is an open-source application which can run on just about any operating system, so Linux/Mac developers have this as an option. Krita is an awesome tool as a replacement for Photoshop or painting tools, but as a pixel art editor it still has a long way to go. You also can't just create a new palette with the correct column count and then copy/paste between palettes.

You can't even export your palettes into another format that (which would allow manual changes). You also can't change it in the file manually since it's saved in a weird format. You can't change something as simple as the number of colums in a palette after creating it. However I accidentally forgot to set the column count that time, so all my swatches were misaligned. If you accidentally add the same color twice then good luck.Įventually I managed to create my palette by making sure to avoid all bugs. You have to switch to another palette and back to see your changes. When adding colors to a palette it also doesn't add them instantly. It also crashed every time when I tried to delete my test palette so I had to delete the file from the resource folder manually. So I thought I can do it by myself since it's only 30 colors.Ĭonstant crashes whenever I clicked things in a certain order. What's worse is that there's no warning, no nothing. Thankfully Asesprite lets you export to that format. png as a palette and only allows importing GIMP color palettes. Yesterday I created a palette in Asesprite and wanted to copy that to Asesprite. But be aware that the palette is probably the weakest and by far buggiest tool in Krita right now.
